Having considered the input from all clubs about the length of the Open Pennant Season, the Interim Management Committee for Metro North-East has decided to adopt a 6 Week Pennants season.
The Pennant Season for 2024-25 will be an uninterrupted 6 Rounds running 15 February to 22 March, with only the Post-Sectional Region Finals to be played in April following the State Championships. Following last season’s experience with wet weather, however, they have added one additional “rain date” on Sunday 9 March.
The Open Pennant dates will therefore be:
Round 1 15 February
Round 2 22 February
Round 3 1 March
Round 4 8 March
“rain date” Sunday 9 March
Round 5 15 March
Round 6 22 March
“rain date” Sunday 23 March
Region Finals 12 – 13 April
Finals “rain dates” 26-27 April
Following the previous seasons campaigns where Lane Cove came everso close to winning a Flag, we are aiming to go better!. The standard of Bowls at Lane Cove has improved dramatically and has been noted by many other players and clubs from around the region.
If you are wanting to play in this seasons competition, you have to be a Full Bowling Member and not have played last season in a grade more than 2 above our grades.
At this stage we are aiming to continue with 2 Teams of a Grade 5 and Grade 6 but, would be fantastic to also enter a Grade 7. To do that, we would ideally need in the region of 50 names to cater for unforeseen absences. (Minimum for 3 teams is 36).
You can put your name down on the board in the club or feel free to contact Simon Kinsman or John Lloyd to enter or indeed ask for further details.
Go Lane Cove!
